Fox Returned To Herndon Woman

HERNDON, Va. (WUSA) --A Silver Cross Fox was returned to a woman who was originally charged with illegally owning the animal, police said.

Alayna Sitterson, 20, was walking a fox named Swiper at Reston Towne Center Sunday night, when animal officials confiscated it.

Swiper is seven months old and is neutered, litter-box trained and vaccinated for rabies, Sitterson said. Tuesday, police dropped the charges and returned the animal to her.

Police say the fox is a breed that can be trained and domesticated, so it posed no threat to the public.

Sitterson's charges included not having the proper permits issued by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF). The charges have now been dropped.
