9 Exposed To Carbon Monoxide In Reston

RESTON, Va. (AP) -- Authorities say nine people were removed from a Fairfax County apartment building after they were exposed to carbon monoxide.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue spokesman Dan Schmidt says the group was taken from the building in Reston to two area hospitals shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday.

Schmidt says everyone in the group will be fine, but longer exposure to the odorless, colorless gas could prove harmful.
Crews were checking on a possible source for the carbon monoxide.

Schmidt says residents should be careful with fireplaces, gas furnaces, kerosene heaters and generators, which can be sources of carbon monoxide.
