Renovation Closes Pool for Season
Renovation Closes Pool for Season

From the Reston Association:

RESTON, Va. –This season, there will be one less pool to enjoy while Dogwood Pool undergoes a major facelift.  To save an estimated $10,000 in additional costs to open the 32-year-old facility for just one season, the Reston Association Board of Directors voted to start the renovations as soon as plans are approved.

The improvements to the existing 20-meter pool include a new water basin with a zero depth entry, in-water bench seating, three 25-meter lap lanes and a diving well.  There are also upgrades to the bathhouse to modify it for accessibility, a new picnic pavilion and water spray and play area.  The pool is expected to re-open in the 2012 season.

During the renovation, campers from the Southgate Community Center and other groups that use Dogwood Pool will be directed to Shadowood Pool and to our remaining 14 pool facilities.  Reston Association is working with Southgate to provide transportation to children enrolled in the summer camp program. Maps and announcements will be posted at all nearby pools.

Dogwood Pool is an anchor in its very diverse community, which comprises 1,645 homes.  The Reston Association Board believes that reinvesting in the community will bring value to the members and provide a gathering place for families and children.
