Reston changes name for Back to the Future tribute

RESTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- It's 2015 and we still don't have hoverboards or self-lacing shoes. But for the rest of the week, D.C. area residents be able to step foot in the town made famous in Back to the Future.

From October 21-25, Reston will change its name to "Hill Valley" in honor of the famous film series, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

October 21, 2015, is a significant date for the series. It's the day that Marty McFly and Doc Brown went to the future in the iconic DeLorean time machine in Back to the Future Part II.

To celebrate the series, the Washington West Film Festival will host a screening of Back to the Future on October 25, with stars Christopher Lloyd, Claudia Wells and James Tolkan and co-writer and co-producer Bob Gale in attendance. 100 percent of the box office net proceeds from the screening will be donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
