Grant Fuels Habitat Restoration Project

As part of its NeighborWoods Month campaign, The Alliance for Community Trees awarded Reston Association a $500 grant to improve the health of one of its natural areas... and you can help.

Join the volunteers on Saturday, October  22 as they return to a site to remove English Ivy.

Reston Association's Environmental Resource staff say English Ivy creats a "monoculture that prevents native plants from thriving.  Those plants keep the forest healty and provide habitats for wildlife.

The location is between 2368 and 2354 Old Trail Drive. Volunteers should meet at the tot-lot.

The time is from 10 a.m.-Noon. A word of caution, there is poison ivy at the site.

To become one of Reston's volunteer "weed warriors", contact Ha Brock, community outreach specialist, at 703-435-7986 or e-mail her at habrock@reston.org
