DMV Indie Film Festival to Continue Through Weekend

Looking for something new and different to do this weekend? Want to stay out of the cold? Well, last night I attended the DMV Indie Film Showcase, a film festival that highlights some our area’s very own filmmaking talent. The festival opened last night, but it will run through Sunday, December 5.

Come out any night this weekend at 7 PM to the Cinema Arts Theatre in Fairfax to catch several different short films, along with the feature production 6 Nonsmokers. The shorts will definitely get you thinking, encompassing a variety of genres and the comedy 6 Nonsmokers is a guaranteed laugh out loud.

Home for Christmas: Concert by Voce Chamber Singers

The following was sent to us by Elliot Wicks:

Music and Christmas are inseparable, as Voce’s Christmas concerts demonstrate year after year. The choice of music for Christmas is endless; Voce has tried its best to do it all! This year, we draw music from past Christmas concerts, especially a cappella gems. As always, the audience will be invited to sing with us. Familiar carols will be heard and sung, as will contemporary songs like Jim Brickman’s Coming Home for Christmas and Faith Hill’s Where are you Christmas? Classical Christmas works on the program include O Magnum Mysterium by de Victoria, On this Starry Night by Matthew Harris, and the hauntingly beautiful Ave Maria by Biebl.

Favorite Restaurant

So, I have been in Chicago for the past few days getting out and checking out the sites - it is crazy how much that town has changed since I lived there. It’s always good to get back to my roots and the food there – unreal. I forget how many great restaurants there are out there and that is probably because I spend my life in one. So, I need some help. I don’t have much time to get out so I need some recommendations for some of Virginia and DC’s best restaurants. Any type of food, any type of ambiance – I just want to know what the next place is that I should try. Hook a brother up.

Also, in case you want to follow me further, check out my blog at http://stevenlukisblog.wordpress.com/. Look forward to seeing you there.
