Metropolitan Fine Arts Center Student Plays Lead in Billy Elliot National Tour

Metropolitan Fine Arts Center’s (MFAC) former student, Ben Cook, 14, is featured in the national tour of the Tony Award winning musical “Billy Elliot” in the lead role of Billy Elliot. Over the next six months, he will perform in 11 cities nationwide, including Baltimore from Dec. 18-30.  Cook is an alumnus of Lorton Station Elementary School in Lorton, Va., where his family still resides. At age 7, Cook began theatre/dance training at Metropolitan Fine Arts Center in Alexandria, Va., and began to regularly audition for professional theatre at 9 years old. Fire-Breathing Dragons Soar Through The Verizon Center Tonight

A seriously cool, and fun event for the entire family is coming to D.C. tonight!

This summer, audiences will experience the magic of fire-breathing dragons in DreamWorks’ How To Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular.

The tour will be at the Verizon Center in D.C., from July 19 through July 22 for eight shows.

Brace yourselves to see dragons with wingspans of up to 46 feet, Viking warriors, and circus artists and acrobats flying through the air.

Tonight's show is at 7 p.m., and tickets are now on sale through Ticketmaster for only $29.50.

This 13-foot tall, 20.5-foot long, and 7.5-foot wide Bootmobile will be in town this weekend with events at Occoquan Regional Park and the L.L.Bean retail locations in McLean and Columbia, Md.

This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy some fun outdoor activities, and raise $1 million for the National Park Foundation this year.

Manassas Resident Wins Army Ten-Miler T-Shirt Design Contest

MANASSAS (WUSA) -- Congratulations Manassas resident, Peter Pawlak, who recently won the Army Ten-Miler's annual T-shirt Design Contest.

His winning design, which is featured above, will be displayed on more than 30,000 official runner and volunteer T-shirts for The Army's 28th annual Army Ten-Miler 2012 race in October.

His design was selected by a panel of military and civilians who judged the designs that best depicted the overall themes of Army and running. 

Not only will Pawlak’s design be featured in the third largest 10-mile race in the world, but he also received a 17-inch MacBook Pro.

The 21-year-old is studying graphic design at George Mason, and is a freelance designer on the side who had a unique T-shirt concept that put him ahead of the pack.

Women's Athletic Store Comes to Va.

Great news for active ladies in Northern Virginia!

The highly anticipated women’s athletic store, Athleta, officially opened Wednesday in Reston Town Center.

Based in California, and owned by Gap, Athleta offers high performance women’s yoga clothing, swimwear, running and athletic gear for fitness, golf, and tennis.

Located at 11900 Market Street, the store will offer free fitness classes with schedules that you can pick up in the store while you shop.

This will be the first store opened in Virginia for Athleta with a second store coming to Tyson’s Corner later this summer.
