Civil War Experience Pass Provides Endless Opportunities

Interested in learning America’s history and discovering what life was like during the Civil War? Here's your chance.

The Civil War experience is now possible through interactive exhibits, tours and special programs at six historic sites in Prince William County and Manassas, Va.

Tourism Agency, Discover Prince William & Manassas, launched its Civil War Experience Pass this month for $15, which allows visitors to see six historic Civil War sites, such as: Manassas National Battlefield Park, Manassas Museum, Ben Lomond Historic Site, Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park, Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre and Rippon Lodge. The pass is also good for 10 percent off at the Manassas Museum store.

The Civil War Experience Pass, which is valid through December 2013, can be purchased at the Manassas Museum, Rippon Lodge, Brentsville Courthouse and Ben Lomond.

Bodega Spanish Tapas & Lounge Hosting Flamenco Thursday Show

The Bodega Spanish Tapas & Lounge, located in the heart of Georgetown, has scheduled a series of “Flamenco Thursday” shows. The shows, which begin at 10:45 p.m. each Thursday, will feature the traditional Spanish sounds of flamenco guitarist Ricardo Marlow, and the authentic voice of Hector Jose Marquez. Diners can enjoy a variety of tapas prior to the show.

“We are excited to offer the wonderful sounds of flamenco every Thursday night,” says Danny Araujo, General Manager of Bodega Spanish Tapas & Lounge and Thunder Burger. “It’s a great time to get out and take in some culture, relax, and enjoy the evening. Award-Winning Magician Performs In D.C. This August

Washingtonian’s are in for a real treat this August as Josh Norris, the magician named D.C.’s Best Performing Artist” by Washington City Paper is hosting a 90-minute magic show at Helix Lounge in D.C.

Beginning Friday, August 10, Norris will combine magic, psychology, and hypnosis, with a human lie detector where he is certain he can decode the thoughts of audience members in THINK: An Evening of Mind Reading and Magic.

All guests can arrive early to enjoy extended Happy Hour specials at Kimpton’s Hotel Helix, located at 1430 Rhode Island Avenue in Northwest, D.C., as well as discounted $4 Magic Hat beers, and an $8 “Magic Martini” featuring gin, peach liqueur, orange juice, grenadine and a champagne float.

Customers can call 855-JCP-KIDS or stop by a local salon to schedule a free August appointment while they last.

Today, if you schedule a haircut, JCPenney’s will donate $1 for every free cut to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and 4-H.

Art Exhibit Explores New Ideas & Creativity In Va.

Since 1987, the Target Gallery at the Torpedo Factory has been exploring new ideas and promoting high standards of art. The gallery will host an exhibit that will run August 4th through September 2nd, and will feature Sublime Rupture, featuring a series of large paintings by artist Benjamin Duke.

Duke was the winner of the gallery’s 2012 Open Exhibition competition where three arts-experts reviewed over eighty submitted proposals, and unanimously selected Duke’s work.

You can meet the artist and hear him speak on August 9th from 6-8 p.m. at the Target Gallery located at 105 N. Union St. in Alexandria.
