Yesterday, the Loudoun County School Board adopted a 2011-2012 calendar that provides for Loudoun County Public Schools to begin the week before Labor Day.
In September, Dr. Ed Hatrick, Superintendent for Loudoun County Public Schools, told School Board members that he intended to open schools before Labor Day for the 2011-2012 school year. And after seeking parent, student, and staff input, the School Board voted unanimously to adopt a new calendar. As a result, students will begin the new school year on August 28, 2011, and conclude the school year on June 8, 2012. They will have typical Thanksgiving, winter, and spring breaks.
