4th Annual Southgate Community Day

This Saturday, October 30, the Southgate Community Center located 12125 Pinecrest Road, in Reston, VA will host the 4th Annual Southgate Community Day! There will be entertainment, games, door prizes, health and eye exams, bike repair and refreshments. The event will run from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and will allow residents in Reston to meet and celebrate the diversity of the surrounding community. There will be a variety of recreational activities designed to create a strong and connected multicultural community.

Reston Halloween House & Trick or Treat Trail

The following was sent to us by The Reston Association:

Looking for a Halloween event that’s exciting, fun for the whole family, festive and (sh-h-) a bit educational?  The make your plans now for Reston’s Halloween House and Trick or Treat Trail.  You’ll be treated, really, to friendly characters along the trail who will give out treats. You are likely to meet a live owl and the animals who live inside Nature House – the year-round environmental educational facility at Walker Nature Education Center. “This is a creative Halloween event,” said Katie Shaw, manager of Walker Nature Education Center. “We have an emphasis on the environment here, so you will meet the animals and characters that share the woods with us.”

There will also be booths set up for fun activities and you can purchase snacks onsite.  Wear your fun, friendly costume.

Reston Town Center Ice Skating Opens Oct 29

On Friday, October 29, Ice Skating opens at the Reston Town Center Pavilion. There will be public skating and skate rentals daily, as well as private lessons, birthday parties, and reservations for private and corporate parties. Aging in Reston Forum to Be Held Oct. 9

From the Fairfax County Office of Public Affairs:

Reston founder Robert E. Simon will keynote “Aging in Reston: A Community Forum” on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Reston Community Center, Hunters Woods. Simon will discuss his original village concept as it connects to aging in place. The forum, presented by Hunter Mill District Supervisor Catherine Hudgins, is free. Advance registration is requested; forms are available at the Hunter Mill District Office, 12000 Bowman Towne Drive, Reston, or Reston Community Center.

Celebrate Fairfax

Get ready to have some fun! Come out to the Celebrate Fall for Fairfax event this Saturday at Fairfax Government Center. Fall for Fairfax will run from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Activities include a train ride, a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, inflatables and several kid's performances. There will also be exhibits on education, sport and fitness, public saftey, personal health and the environment.

Leesburg Business Incubator Gains County Support

Loudoun County pledges $100,000 over three years to help underwrite operational costs for new Mason Enterprise Center in Leesburg
