WATCH: Metro unveils Silver Line commercials


RESTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- Now that they have announced an opening date for the Silver Line, Metro's ready to get the word out.

Metro has unveiled three commercials to increase public awareness of the Silver Line, which opens on Saturday, July 26.

The 15-second commercials will begin airing this week.

Metro says the commercials highlight the benefits of the new line: access to employment, entertainment, and shopping without the hassles of traffic or the expense of gas and parking.

Northern Va. World Cup Watch-Party draws thousands


RESTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- American optimism was everywhere at Reston Town Center Sunday, where more than 8,000 fans watched the USA vs Portugal match on big screens in the pavilion.

An early goal by Portugal, however, quickly changed the optimistic tone, but all hope wasn't lost. Fans chanting "I believe that we will win," and "USA" didn't stop.

Andrew Dykstra and other DC United players keeping the positive attitude going for the US team. "I think the second half is going to start opening up, opportunities hopefully galore," says Dykstra.

But the hint of nervousness couldn't be ignored. "I really thought we could do something with Portugal. They came out and took it to us but we haven't shown the fight yet, I know it's coming," says one fan.
