RESTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- Students in Reston got the chance Thursday to travel to far off places without leaving their classroom.
The took virtual field trips through Google Cardboard, traveling all around the country, across the globe and beyond.
Google chose Ideaventions Academy, a math and science based school, to test their expeditions.
"It's amazing, I love the 3D graphics. I've seen pictures before, I've never had that feeling where you look around, see something different," a student said.
"I don't think I've ever shown a powerpoint and gotten that oohh ahh," Mariana Pabon, a biology and chemistry teacher.
This is not your typical learning environment. Ideaventions Academy is a private STEM-based school, but Google approached all sorts of classrooms from private, public and charter schools to test Google Cardboard.
