FCPS Yearbook, Newspaper Staffs Earn Top Honors From CSPA

From Fairfax County Public Schools:

Student journalists from seven Fairfax County public schools have been recognized as finalists for the Scholastic Crown Award, the highest honor bestowed on student publications by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA).  Each of the publications will receive either a Gold or Silver Crown Award during the CSPA convention in March 2012.

FCPS is home to four of the 66 high school yearbooks from across the nation to be named Crown Award finalists.

Crown Award finalists are:

·         Odyssey, Chantilly High School, High School Yearbook Crown Finalist; Jennifer Urban, editor, and Mary Kay Downes, adviser.·         The Clan, McLean High School, High School Yearbook Crown Finalist; Farah Albani, Caitlin Kirby, Maggie Nash, and Yasmine Panah, editors, and Meghan Percival, adviser.·         H2N, Hayfield Secondary School, High School Newspaper Crown Finalist; Hunter Woodall and Sidra Sajid, editors, and Marge Craig, adviser.·         Sentry, Robinson Secondary School, Middle School Yearbook Crown Finalist; Brent Yantis, editor, and Pat Hinman, adviser.·         tjToday, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, High School Newspaper Crown Finalist, Rabia Idrees, editor, and Jennifer Seavey, adviser.·         Predator, West Potomac High School, High School Yearbook Crown Finalist; Josh Crow, Erica Sucher, Morgan Drucker, and Alexandra Graybill, editors, and Melanie Mobley, adviser.·         The Guardian, Westfield High School, High School Yearbook Crown Finalist; Megan McNulty, editor, and Anthony Whitten, adviser.
