Reston Stream Restoration Exhibit and Walk

This weekend Reston residents and other interested parties will be given a unique opportunity: a chance to tour the timely exhibit on stream restoration with Kelly Petrey of Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. Attendees will learn updates on the state of Reston streams and the large renovation program that is now underway to restore these natural resources.

The stream restoration exhibit and walk will be this Saturday, August 7th, at 12 p.m. Guests are invited to the Reston Museum at 1639 Washington Plaza in the Lake Anne Village Historic District at noon to learn about the project and the benefits of stream restoration. Then at 1 p.m. you can join Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. on a field trip to a stream in the Colvin Run watershed of North Reston.

Three More Months Left of Reston Farmer's Market

As the summer begins the slip away, we are reminded there are only a few more months left of the Reston Farmer’s Market. The Reston Farmer’s Market at Lake Anne first opened on May 8th and will continue through October. If you still haven’t had a chance to visit, the market is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Some vendors include Grace’s Pastries, Colonial Kettle Corn, Cherry Glen Goat Cheese Co., Ole Pioneer’s Kitchen, Reid’s Orchard Winery, and Middleburg Creamery to name a few. For a full list of vendors visit: http://www.restonfarmersmarket.com/vendor-info.htm

Keep in mind that buying local is a way of support a sustainable community! Also remember to keep your pooch at home because no dogs are allowed at the market. Want to be a vendor yourself?
